Current Scholarships for 2023

Don Newcomb Charity for Academic Success is looking forward to award numerous amount of candidates with scholarships for higher education/ vocational schools for the 2023 summer academic year. All deadlines are August 1, 2023. 

Currently there are three scholarships available, please select all that apply.  

Future Special Education Educators

Scholarship Information

Don Newcomb Charity for Academic Success is offering scholarships to candidates looking to pursue a bachelor's degree in Special Education at a higher education establishment. Only 5 candidates will have the opportunity to receive one of the following amounts:: $500, $1,500, or $2,000. The board will determine from the applications and scholarship criteria which candidates will be receiving all or parts of this money.



Candidates must meet the following criteria for consideration by the board.

  • Grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 or better (attach High School Transcripts).
  • Must be a Senior attending an Arizona High School (public, private, or charter)
  • Plan to attend a higher education establishment; attach acceptance letter or proof of acceptance, i.e. college portal, class schedule, etc. 
  • Recommendation letters from two high school teachers
  • Write a 1,000-word essay about Special Education and why you want to be involved in this career field
  • Turn in application and all other requirements listed above by August 1, 2023

Autism Spectrum Disorder Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Don Newcomb Charity for Academic Success is offering scholarships to candidates looking to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in a higher education establishment or attend a vocational school. Only 5 candidates will have the opportunity to receive one of the following amounts: $500, $1,500, or $2,000. The board will determine from the applications and scholarship criteria which candidates will be receiving all or parts of this money.


Candidates must meet the following criteria for consideration by the board. 


  • Grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or better (attach High School Transcripts) or provide a Completion Diploma.
  • Must be a Senior attending an Arizona High School (public, private, or charter)
  • Candidates with Autism Spectrum Disorder living in the state of Arizona; providing a medical diagnosis or IEP.
  • Plan to attend a higher education establishment or vocational school; must provide an acceptance letter or proof of acceptance (college portal, class schedule, etc.)
  • Recommendation letters from two high school teachers or school officials
  • Creating a personal response explaining what this scholarship means to you, and what you want to achieve by going on to college or vocational school. Examples could be creating a video, essays, paintings, etc. The more creative, the better
  •  Turn in application and all other requirements listed above by August 1, 2023

Scholarship Information

Don Newcomb Charity for Academic Success is offering one scholarship to a candidate looking to pursue a Graduate's or Bachelor's degree in Education at a higher education establishment. Only one candidate will have the opportunity to receive the following amount of $2,500. The board will determine from the applications and scholarship criteria which candidate will be receiving all of this money.


 Candidates must meet the following criteria for consideration by the board.  


  • Grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 or better (attach official transcripts from High School or Bachelor's Degree
  • Must have attended an Arizona High School
  • Plan to attend a higher education establishment; attach acceptance letter or proof of acceptance, i.e. college portal, student number, class schedule
  • Recommendation letters from two of the following: high school teachers, professors, manager, or colleagues
  • Write a 1,000-word essay about Education and why you want to be involved in this career field. 
  • Turn in application and all other requirements listed above by August 1, 2023
